Pakistan Twenty20 cricket team captain, Shahid Afridi has apologized to the nation for not being able to live to the expectations of the people in the T20 World Cup. In a video statement issued on a social media website, Afridi stated that he was sorry that the team’s performance was not up to par with the public’s expectations.
The skipper also said that he is only answerable to the nation and he does not care for others. “When I enter into the field to play, I do it with the national spirit,” he said.
The team’s skipper added that the Pakistan’s cricket team was not just a squad of 11 players but rather a team of the entire nation. Afridi stated that he had been playing for Pakistan for the past 20 years and went down to play in the field with emotions that mirrored those of the entire nation.
