- How similar is Ahsaas to Ah-sassy?
~ Haha, very similar Ahsaas is ah-sassy only.
So, I don’t think I’m very sassy. It’s just that friends call me sassy because I come out as a very sassy person which is really cool for me. But yes, I’m a very outspoken person, I’m very out there, I’m very loud and there are so many people who actually judge me. Like, I’m very loud I can not sit in a room and be quite for more than a minute. I think ‘sassy’ is not just one particular kind of sassy. Sassy can be any thing even every girl in the world I feel is sassy in their own way.
- How has your journey been so far, starting from movies to T.V and now web shows?
~ It’s been very adventurous because I have experienced everything. I also did movies, I know how movies are made and I’ve done T.V also and I know how T.V works, now I’m doing web and I’m having the best time of my life. I think I’m in a very good space right now, I love being on the internet. So, it’s been really great. I have been given so many opportunities and I feel really lucky.
- You have started out as a boy’s character and worked in My Friend Ganesha, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Aryan and Vaastu Shastra.
Your father told TOI, “If you take a look at the interviews Ahsaas has given to newspapers and magazines, she has spoken like a boy and this scares me.”
Do you regret doing it?
~ No, I don’t regret doing it. It’s been 18 years that I have done that boy’s character and people didn’t know I was a girl. So, it’s fun to see their reaction. It is really cool. I still get comments from people because I’ve started out as a boy’s character.
- The time you were shooting for crime patrol, what was the biggest challenge about taking on such roles?
~ I will be very honest with you. See, these bold outspoken roles are not difficult at all because that is who I am in general also so it comes out very easily for me. It’s very easy and natural for me to portray such roles. I’m lucky to portray all kinds of roles.
- What have you learned about yourself since you became a celebrity?
~ Dekho main 4 saal se acting kar rahi hoon, main bachpan se he actress thi toh mujhe har koi ye bolta tha,”Oh, she is an actress, she must be very arrogant, she must be like a diva, or ohh! you work? Why?
Ghar pe you put jhaaru- pochaa, oh why?”
I don’t get these things. Like if you are an actress why are you restricted from doing work. I mean you are a human being at the end of the day and I would do whatever the hell I want to do, right? (Smiles) and I love working at home, I love helping my mom out when she is cooking food or I even clean the home in the absence of maid.
I don’t like the fact that people make their own perspective and startjudging which is very wrong.
If you know the person then you’re allowed to talk about them nahi toh chup raho. (Laughs)
- Who is your celebrity crush?
~ Selena Gomez.
- Three tips for aspiring actors?
~ Just keep working hard, don’t ever give up. Believe in yourself and always please respect your parents, there are so many young people now-a-days who forget that you have to listen to your parents, respect them.
You know “Kavi v tumhare parents tumko kuch aisa nahi bolenge jisse apko agey kuch galat dekhna parey. Whatever they tell you just because they want good things for you. They never say anything which is wrong for you, so always listen to them and please be yourself. Don’t try to be anybody else you are sassy in your own ways.
- I have heard that you are a Shiv bhakt. What is your review of The Immortals of Meluha?
~ Yes, I’m a Shiv Bhakt and I love this book. It is written so well. It is Shiv in a human context and it is so relatable. It is a very good book. You guys should read.
- Being a Tik Tok star, what do you love the most about the application?
~ My favourite part about TikTok is that it has so many filters, it has so many sound options, it has so many audios. I think the fact that I’m able to show my talent to the world with 15 seconds and I can be creative. I think the same thing, I don’t think I can do that on any other social media. Since, we do different things on TikTok than Instagram or Facebook.
So they’re little nicer here.
- Your current web series, Girls Hostel has gotten a lot of praise, take us through your experience of it?
~ Girls Hostel has become massive. I am very happy. I remember I was flying to Delhi and I got my channel head’s call, and she said would you like to do a Girliyapa show, and that’s when I said yes. I didn’t even know about the story, I didn’t even know who was directing, I didn’t even know my character. I just said yes to her. I knew it was a Girliyapa show and I knew it would be a massive hit. I’m a big fan of Girliyapa genuinely it is my favourite channel. We made this show bohot jaldi-jaldi mein, but this is now a massive hit and I’m very happy about it.
Parul, Simran, Srishti and I are so overwhelmed with the response that we are getting and the fact is the show is so relatable. Every character in the show is very relatable. Girls are relating to Richa, they are relating to Parul, Srishti and Simran’s character.
Shreyasi and Ashish have written this show, and they have done an amazing job.
Chirag has also co-written the show. I’m really going out of words about how happy I’m about this show.
- The show has an all girls cast, how much have you guys bonded?
~ I was very worried because there are 4 girls in the show and I’m already very close to Srishti, I have worked with her in a lot of videos and I wasn’t very worried about Srishti, like atleast I’ll have her but somehow all four of us came so close, we share everything and chill, whenever we have breaks we are dancing, even I have posted a video on instagram, we are going crazy together, we gossip together. We check each other’s clothes out. We have become so close, all four of us have become best friends.
- Who’s the funniest person in the cast in real life?
~ Srishti for sure and I just love being with her.
- Of all the roles you have played till date, which is your favorite?
~ I will not tell you which one I like the most because I liked all of them. (Laughs)
- What is the one message you would give to your fans?
~ To all my fans, the first thing I would like to say is thank you so much for all the love, appreciation that you guys give me every single day.
Those texts that you send and those comments that you leave. Thank you so much for that, I genuinely value each one of them.
