Remembering Bhanu Bandopadhyay

How many of you remember the name Bhanu Bandopadhyay? We do host events on the birth and death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, Nazrul Islam, Kishore Kumar, Uttam Kumar etc and we even get to see special episodes of the reality shows in those specific dates. Then why don’t we do that for those who puts a smile in our face., who makes us happy? We hardly remember the ones who were not in the big screen always but helped us in doing something.

He  started his acting career as a stand-up comedian in Dhaka.  His breakthrough film role was in Basu Parivar (1952) where he played as a businessman. Bandyopadhyay played serious roles also in the film Galpa Holeo Satyi. He produced, directed and acted and traveled around the country.

He died on 4 March 1983. But his contribution towards the film industry even after 33 years is incomparable.

May God rest his soul in peace!
